October 2026 News
Some of you will have noticed, our monthly hot meals took a bit of a break over the summer but they were back this week with Beef Stew & Dumplings, with Brioche Bread & Butter pudding to follow. Everyone enjoyed it and you will be glad to hear we will be having our October Hot Meal Special on Wednesday 28th October, so put it in your diary and look out for more information nearer the time.
Looking ahead, we have lots of bookings now for our popular Christmas lunches on 4th, 7th, 9th, 15th & 17th December. There are plenty of spaces left, but don't leave it too late to book if you need a particular date: contact us, or come into the shop to collect a form. The last date for booking is 16th November.
Join the Team
We are looking for more volunteers to join our Saturday rota. It is a commitment of 2 hours on one Saturday a month either 10-12 or 12-2pm. We have two Saturdays a month currently where there are gaps that we need to fill.
For Washing up you just need to be over 14, and you could use the opportunity to fulfil your volunteering commitment for Duke of Edinburgh awards. Even better, bring a friend and you can chat while you work.
For our café counter you need to be 16 or over and again it can count as
volunteering hours for duke of Edinburgh awards. On the counter you need to be happy talking to customers, writing down orders and taking trays full of food and drinks out to them. All training is given.

Christmas...
There is a small selection of Christmas cards, decorations, wrapping paper and advent calendars in the shop already. More advent stock including advent candles, advent devotionals, Children's Christmas books and more gifts will appear in the shop in the next few weeks.

Make & Bake
...for under-5s has re-started. It takes place on Tuesdays in term time, 9.30-11am, £2 per child, no need to book. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more details.
Language Café
​Are you interested in helping those in the community who have English as a second language? Sarah is looking into starting a "Chatting Café", with conversation partners. Before we can consider the details, we are looking to see if we have any volunteers interested. It is likely to be a morning or afternoon on a week day in term time. Please get in touch if you think you would be interested.
Catering
If you are catering for an event, business lunch, away day or funeral, our buffet selection comes highly recommended. We provided homemade cakes & quiches, fresh filled sandwiches, all your favourite fillings, and we cater to gluten free or dairy free diets. It's great value and we can often deliver.
