May 2026 News
The warmer weather is here and the sun streaming in the window is very welcome. Unfortunately business in the café does drop when the weather improves, so do consider popping in this month. I've put some of our summery menu treats below to tempt you. There will be a main meal special on Wednesday 28th May, contact us nearer the time to find out what we'll be serving and to book your place.

Fathers' Day
Sunday 21st June will be Fathers' Day, we have a large selection of cards and some great gift ideas.

Celebrate Amazing Teachers
Thank you cards for Top Teachers and Brilliant Teaching Assistants are also now on the shelf.

New in the Bookshop
The new TAKE NOTE promotion has arrived this week and it's all out on the shelf. There are some really good discounts. Some of the highlights are shown below.

Free Meal Vouchers

Thank you to everyone who have donated to our marble jar since the newsletter last month. In the first quarter of this year the marble jar funded meals for at least 60 individuals or families who were sent to us by local schools, the days centre, the football club and the advice centre. We are planning on running the same scheme at half term, so we really welcome donations to this.
Summer Fundraiser

Since we announced the Auction of Promises last month, the promises are starting to trickle in. If you have some time, a skill or passion and you would like to bless someone, we would love to hear from you.
This is something we have done in the past and we are hoping it's going to be as popular as last time.
Examples of promises we could auction are: Gardening - could you offer to help someone tidy up their garden, mow their lawn or sweep the leaves? DIY - can you put up a shelf or assemble an IKEA wardrobe? A drive in a classic or special vehicle - could you offer someone a car for their prom or wedding? Or are you a Man with a Van? Tour of somewhere special - do you work somewhere or live somewhere interesting? Holiday home - do you have a second home you let out? Bake a cake? Tuition for GCSE/ A-Level? Computer support? Ironing or cleaning?

If you are thinking about making an offer, collect a form from Cornerstone.
We will collate the offers and advertise them to our friends who will be invited to make sealed bids. The winners of each lot will be announced at an event in September.
Catering
If you are catering for an event, business lunch, away day or funeral, our buffet selection comes highly recommended. We provided homemade cakes & quiches, fresh filled sandwiches, all your favourite fillings, and we cater to gluten free or dairy free diets. It's great value and we can often deliver.
